Children and Family Ministries

AS JESUS SAID, “LET THE LITTLE CHILDREN COME TO ME.” MATTHEW 19:14.

At St. Paul’s, you’ll find age-appropriate Christian education during our Faith Formation hour as well as many opportunities for your children to grow in faith and service at St. Paul’s.

And you’ll feel good knowing dedicated volunteers—educators and inspirational professionals among them—are helping your children have lots of fun too on their faith journeys in our safe and caring community. Your preschoolers elementary-aged children have a home—and a role—at St. Paul’s.

Weekly Faith Formation

St. Paul’s Sunday School meets at 9:00 am during the school year. There are classes for all ages from 4 through adults. Our Sunday School classes for children focus on Bible stories and faith basics. Sunday School is a great opportunity for children to learn Bible stories and songs, ask questions about God, and have fun at church!

Classes are led by volunteers who have completed background checks.

Holy Communion Instruction

Holy Communion instruction takes place every spring for our second graders. There is one class, held after church on a Sunday. Communion is a sacrament in the Lutheran church, which means that it is a physical way for us to receive the grace of God through partaking of the body and blood of Christ.

To find out exactly when First Communion classes will be happening, please contact the church office.

Confirmation

Eighth and ninth graders meet on Sunday mornings throughout the year for confirmation instruction. It is a time to learn more about their faith using curriculum based on Luther’s Small Catechism and the Bible.

Confirmation is taught by Pastors Laura and Tim. At the end of the course, the young people make public profession of their faith, continuing in the promises made for them at baptism. To enroll a youth in confirmation, please talk to a pastor.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is held every year in June. It is open to children who have turned four through those going into sixth grade. The children get to explore a particular theme for the week through song, Bible stories, science, games, and snacks. St. Paul’s typically has over 80 children attend! There are also opportunities for adult volunteers to help us lead VBS.

Families with Young Children

Families with Young Children (birth-age 8) is a social group that meets several times throughout the year. It is a time for kids to have fun and for parents to chat and get to know each other.

Elementary Youth Group

St. Paul’s Elementary Youth group is for kids in grades 3-6. We meet several times throughout the year, and our activities range from service to learning to social time. Some prior activities have been helping at Cradles to Crayons, nature walks, pottery painting, and baking Christmas cookies for our homebound members.

High School Youth Group

St. Paul’s youth group focuses on youth in grades 7-12. We have several activities throughout the year, including service opportunities, fellowship time, learning together, and service trips in the summer.
