Worship and Music

We are created to praise God – and so worship is our central and fundamental practice as a congregation. When we worship, the Spirit is gathering us together as church. We enter into God’s time. Through the Word and Sacraments of worship, God gives us nourishment for the journey. All of our ministries, as followers of Jesus in our day-to-day lives, arise out of the nourishment we receive in worship.

St. Paul’s embraces a liturgical approach to worship and music. In worship the congregation fully participates in the service as worship assistants, lectors, communion assistants, acolytes, choir members, cantors, and instrumentalists. Worshipers who do not have a leadership role participate in responsive prayer, liturgical song, and hymns. Our worship follows a basic pattern of gathering together in prayer and song, hearing God’s Word through reading and preaching, sharing the table of Christ together, and being sent forth to share God’s love with others.

Music Ministries

Music is a large part of our worship at St. Paul’s. Our hymnal, Evangelical Lutheran Worship, includes songs from many different traditions and all over the globe. All are invited to participate in singing our hymns and songs. Our Director of Music, Andrew Heller, does a fantastic job incorporating diverse traditions into our beautiful music.
