November 2025 Chimes
Dear Friends in Christ,
At St. Paul’s, we talk often about being the hands and feet of Christ in the world—but sometimes it’s hard to know where to begin. Between busy schedules and full calendars, opportunities to serve can feel out of reach, especially for families or those who want to volunteer together. That’s why we’re excited to introduce a new monthly tradition designed to make service simple, joyful, and accessible for everyone: Service Sundays.
On the first Sunday of each month at 9:00 a.m., before worship begins, we’ll gather for a short, all-ages service activity right here at church. Each month will feature a different project that connects our congregation with the wider community—sometimes helping those in need, sometimes caring for creation, sometimes simply sharing kindness together. The goal is to make service a rhythm of our life together, a habit of the heart that grows out of our shared faith.
Our very first Service Sunday will take place November 2, and we’ll start close to home—right in our Community Garden! So far this year, the garden has produced an incredible 1,517 pounds of fresh vegetables for the Ardmore Food Pantry. Together, we’ll help prepare the beds for winter, celebrate this year’s harvest, and give thanks for the many hands that make this ministry possible. (Don’t forget to bring your garden gloves if you have them!)
In December, our focus turns to feeding others in another way. On December 7, we’ll gather to fill Caring for Friends meal trays, providing home-cooked meals and care to homebound individuals throughout the Philadelphia area. It’s a wonderful way to share warmth and nourishment during the colder months.
Each Service Sunday is designed to be intergenerational, meaning children, youth, and adults of all ages can participate side by side. It’s a chance to work shoulder to shoulder, meet new people, and see faith come alive through simple acts of love. And when worship begins at 10:00 a.m., we’ll carry that same spirit of service right into our praise and prayer.
No registration is needed—just come as you are, ready to help, learn, and connect. Together, we’ll discover that serving others is not only something we do after church—it’s one of the most meaningful ways we are the church.
In Christ,
Pastor Laura
