Thoughts from the Pastor

Dear Friends:

I have been working on Vacation Bible School (VBS) today. I really enjoy this rewarding week with all the children and adult leaders. VBS always gives me lots of energy, and also a sense of the sure and certain future of the church. My specific roles in Bible School are two: leading worship
with Andy Heller at the beginning and end of each morning, and staffing “Savannah Storytelling” with Pam McDowell.

The theme of VBS this summer is “Baobab Blast.” The baobab tree is unique to Africa, and our setting will be the African savannah, rich with vegetation, alive with sounds, and abundant in animal life.

So for my message this month, I wanted to share with you each of the daily key words and Bible verses for the five days of our VBS. We will meet from June 21 through June 25, and I think it would be great if you would keep this list handy and pray the appropriate verse each day with us.

Monday: Trust—“Let the Lord lead you and trust him to help.” (Psalm 37:5)

Tuesday: Love—“Love never fails!” (1 Corinthians 13:8)

Wednesday: Follow—“I will study your teachings and follow your footsteps.” (Psalm 119:15)

Thursday: Care—“Our Lord, you chose me to care for your people.” (Jeremiah 17:16)

Friday: Share—“Share your faith with others.” (Philemon 1:6)

Hope these daily devotions from Baobab Blast inspire some thoughts and meditations for you as you go about your daily tasks.

As always, if you would like to volunteer to be a part of this wonderful experience, please contact the church office or use the form in the Sunday bulletin.

In Christ,

Pastor Skip McDowell
