....Established 1765

History of the Cemetery

On August 16, 1765, the German Lutherans of "Merrion Township" banded together to purchase land for a place of worship and burial ground for "German Protestants, German Reformed, and Lutherans, conjointly."

The earliest tombstone in the colonial section is that of Johanna Muller, who died on July 25, 1766.

In 1809, the trustees purchased another 1/4 acre of burial ground, and 19 years later a wall was built enclosing the cemetery. Burial permits were first sold in 1833.

A Community Cemetery since 1765

St. Paul's Cemetery opened its gates to the community in 1765 and has remained one of the Main Line's most beautiful and historic final resting places.

Lots are available from a single section to full lots - four sections. Perpetual care is included in the purchase price of the lot. For purchase or information, please contact the church office at 610-642-3211.
